Informa was created by the merger of IBC Group plc and LLP Group plc in December 1998. Since then, the company has grown both organically and through various acquisitions and mergers:
Most recently in July 2009, Informa changed its corporate structure by putting in place a new parent company for the Informa Group. The new parent company is incorporated in Jersey, domiciled in Switzerland and is listed on the London Stock Exchange.
In June 2009, Informa carried out a 2 for 5 Rights Issue raising £242m.
Informa carried out a Reduction of Capital to increase its distributable reserves following changes to the Company’s dividend payment policy in November 2007.
Informa acquired Datamonitor plc in March 2007.
Informa acquired IIR Holdings Ltd in July 2005.
Informa merged with Taylor & Francis plc to become T&F Informa plc in May 2004, and subsequently changed its name to Informa plc in August 2005.
