Roger Horton

Roger Horton is currently CEO of Taylor & Francis Group, the Academic Publishing Division of Informa Plc. With over 35 years’ experience in academic and reference publishing, his career has encompassed roles in sales, marketing, editorial, distribution and senior management. Before joining Taylor & Francis Group in 1994 he previously worked at Van Nostrand Reinhold and McGraw-Hill Europe.

On joining the Taylor & Francis Board in 1994 as Group Sales & Marketing Director, Roger became part of the executive team that completed the successful flotation of the company on the London Stock Exchange in 1998 and went on to complete the merger of Taylor & Francis with Informa in 2004. Following the merger, Roger took up his current role as Chief Executive of Taylor & Francis Group. He is responsible for global operations, which includes leading the Executive Management Team who manage 1,700 staff on several continents. The Group now publishes over 5,000 new books and 2,200 scholarly journals annually. Roger’s leadership has helped to drive the acquisition of over 30 companies, has seen Taylor & Francis Group grow its turnover from £18m to £450m and become part of a billion-pound-plus group in the FTSE 100. He has also served the Publishers Association on the Academic and Professional Division Board for a number of years.
