Successful launch for Informa's Intermodal Asia

The inaugural Intermodal Asia, held at the Shanghai World Expo Center from 1-3 April, was launched successfully and has established itself as the new global exhibition and conference for container, transport and logistics across the road, rail and sea sectors.

A full programme of informative conference sessions ran alongside a comprehensive exhibition Intermodal Asia 2014with over 100 exhibiting companies.

“Attracting large numbers of visitors to both the exhibition and the conference sessions, Intermodal Asia has proved itself as the must-attend event for container, transport and logistics professionals to discuss current topics in the industry, meet with contacts and witness new products” says Sophie Ahmed, Event Director. “The industry feedback has been fantastic.”

The official Opening Ceremony on 1 April was well attended and the VIP speakers included the Chairman of the CCIA (China Container Industry Association) and President of CIMC (China International Marine Containers), Mr Mai Bo Liang; VIP guest, Mr. Qian Yongchang, Chairman of China Communications and Transport Association (CCTA); Mr. Zhou Yu Peng, Deputy Director of Shanghai Services Federation (SSF); and Mr. Rong Jian Ying, Executive Vice Director and Secretary-General of China Federation of Industrial Economics (CFIE).  

Mr Mai Bo Liang, President of CIMC and Chairman of the CCIA said “Intermodal Asia will become the focal point and vital platform for all those interested in Asia’s shipping and container industries. This event reflects the rise of the Asian shipping industry and the global standing of China in this and manufacturing as a whole.”

Managing director of Informa Exhibitions, Peter Hall, also spoke at the ceremony, explaining that there has been great demand for an intermodal event in Asia. “We are very happy to deliver this inaugural Intermodal Asia event and hope that it will be the beginning of many years of Intermodal Asia in China” he said.

Intermodal Asia is organised by Informa Exhibitions in joint partnership with China’s leading container association, the CCIA (China Container Industry Association). The event has also benefitted from the full support of the world’s largest container manufacturer, CIMC (China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd.), which is the chairman member company of the CCIA.
