Everywhere is walking distance if you have the time

We have made it! Chrystelle Duncan, Leah Dansie, Diana Lauzi and Andrea Hoymann from the Informa Australia office have walked 100km together through the Australian bush to raise money for Oxfam and help fighting poverty and injustice around the world.

It has been a tough, but also extremely rewarding and fun challenge that took us 27 hours and 11 minutes to complete. Out of 550 teams of four that participated in the event only 289 crossed the finish line as a complete team and the “Informa walk on the wild side” girls came in as the 114. group without any losses to the team. In the category registered under “Advertising, Marketing, Media & Sales” we came in as the third complete team out of 16. View our complete results on the Oxfam Trailwalker event here.

What we have learned about our feet during the walk:

1)       They are pretty tough and can go much further without complaining than we would have thought.

2)       A frequent change of socks is much appreciated and will be rewarded with less blistering.

3)       After a 100km, don’t bring your nose to close to them before having a nice long soak.

Informa walk on the wild sideWe would like to take this opportunity and give a massive THANKS to our support crew, the uncountable people that sent encouraging text messages from around the world during the event and the many generous corporate and individual donations that keep coming in. A special thanks goes to Informa for supporting our cause. We are extremely excited that we have already exceeded our $5000 fundraising goal. We have currently raised $6703 and we will try to push it further until donations close on the 20th October 2011. Further donations can be made via our team space. You are supporting an extremely important cause and a little can go quite a long way. Only $20 can provide families in Timor-Leste with vegetable seeds, increasing nutrition and market opportunities. Given the current famine in East Africa supporting Oxfam’s projects is more important than ever. Through Sydney Trailwalker alone Oxfam Australia has already raised over $3 million.

Again, many thanks for your support!

Chrystelle, Diana, Leah and Andrea
