We are looking for a creative, highly motivated, and entrepreneurial Conference Producer to join our Life Sciences team, creating and developing commercially focused, issue-oriented conferences to meet the demands of the industry. We are looking for someone who is ready to take the next step in their career, helping to determine future strategy and direction of your group of events.

You will be responsible for the entire production process for your conferences, creating world-class events from concept to delivery. Key responsibilities will include understanding the industry and audience, researching content, designing cutting-edge agendas, securing best in class speakers, building relationships with key industry figures, developing digital offerings out of your events, and establishing yourself as a thought leader within the sector.

You will also be expected to identify new growth opportunities through revenue-generating topics, introducing innovative features and formats to the conferences, and working with the sales and marketing teams to develop strategies to ensure the commercial success of your events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Producing 3-4 multi-stream conferences per year
  • Working with (and reporting to) the US Life Sciences Portfolio Director to help set the event series’ strategy for the year
  • Identifying new topics and commercial opportunities within the portfolio through in depth market analysis
  • Researching and designing conference agendas that reflect the latest trends in the industry 
  • Working closely with the marketing and delegate sales teams to maximize audience and delegate revenue
  • Working closely with the portfolio commercial manager to help identify and secure sponsorship and exhibition sales
  • Developing high-level conference agendas, securing senior industry speakers, and identifying new event revenue streams and formats
  • Contributing to content-led promotion, including social media
  • Identifying and developing digital offerings out of, or related to, your event series
  • Researching competitors’ events through websites, brochures and speaking to competitive speakers in order to add new attendees/speakers to our events and to produce the highest quality agendas possible
  • Be known and seen as the lead contact for the conference
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, thought leaders, industry associations, and media partners
  • Occasional national and international travel for both business development and to run our own events (10 – 15%) 

Skills Required 

The role focuses on events in the Life Sciences sector, so experience in such is preferred 

  • 2+ years conference production experience or related content research and development experience
  • Experience successfully creating and producing events within a fast-paced commercial setting
  • Working knowledge of various segments of Life Sciences industry
  • Excellent qualitative research skills and a passion for that research and agenda development process
  • Ability to identify commercial opportunities and understand how different event formats and sessions can be monetised
  • Familiarity with digital world, from community and content marketing through to ‘digital first’ events, with an interest in building this into your event offerings
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to be one-minded and think creatively and innovatively to develop the series of events
  • Four-year college degree
  • Business savvy
  • Ability to travel occasionally, estimated to be 10 – 15%

Informa’s Knowledge & Networking division currently has an exciting opportunity in our New York office for a Show Director in the IMI: Insights, Marketing & Innovation Division.  The role of Show Director offers a highly intelligent and commercially astute individual the opportunity to take the lead in determining strategy and shaping the future direction of a large-scale industry leading event, along with complimentary digital and in-person satellite events throughout the year. 

This includes, but is not limited to, researching content (both qualitative and quantitative), building relationships with key industry players, designing a compelling agenda, guiding content strategy to create buzz about the conference,  and designing unique on-site experiences and “wow” factors.

The Show Director is the key liaison between the internal Sales, Operations, Marketing, and Social Media teams, and therefore must be an excellent leader and communicator, capable of keeping teams aligned, motivated, and on schedule/budget.

The position is best-suited to a self-motivated and confident individual, with solid experience in selling sponsorship opportunities into conferences, who has managed large scale events and floor-plans, or had experience of Sponsorship and Exhibition Sales, and who is happy to work individually or as part of a team, and is willing to get involved in different projects as and when required. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To secure sponsorship and exhibition revenues in line with Portfolio needs and personal targets, building and maintaining a strong forecasted pipeline of opportunities
  • Generating new business, qualifying strategic selling opportunities and target market/clients
  • Developing key accounts and existing client relationships, identifying and converting opportunities to cross/up-sell
  • Producing quality proposals and contracts to aid the sales process, providing innovative solutions based upon a deep understanding of Fintech product base
  • Business Partnering effectively with internal Marketing/Ops/Production team to ensure accurate delivery of client/event requirements 
  • Building a thorough understanding of Fintech market, clients and competitors

SKILLS REQUIRED

Previous Experience

  • 2 – 4 years SpEx / Media / b2b / industry relevant sales experience
  • Demonstrating a consultative sales process in handling complex briefs, responding with considered and creative solutions
  • Undertaking mapping exercises on both product and client base, and competitor landscape
  • Engaging with stakeholders at a senior level, comfortable in cross/up selling to both acquire new business and grow existing accounts
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce.com or similar systems, having lead and encouraged team members to protect and maintain the integrity of the system
