Spencer built the tax, legal and accounting businesses with IIR Ltd, which he joined in 1996. When IIR was acquired by Informa in 2005, he took over the legacy IBC conference businesses.

The Infoline compliance business was acquired in 2007 and integrated into Spencer’s portfolio. Spencer has been involved with multiple other acquisitions and integrations over the years. He was charged with optimising operational and financial synergies and with consolidating back-end order/billing processes and shared services.

Since its inception, the Professional division has operated many long running JVs with external organisations and associations, including ICAEW, AFME, AICPA, IFRS Foundation, PwC and multiple universities around the world. More recently, it has also pioneered the delivery of digital and community education solutions ranging from distance learning, training, conferences, digital media and certification programmes.
