AusRAIL PLUS opened in Sydney today

The world’s leading authorities on rail gathered in Sydney today as AusRAIL PLUS 2013 opened at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

AusRAIL PLUS takes place from 26-28 November and will be hosted in conjunction with the 10th World Congress on Railway Research, which opens a day earlier on 25 November and brings together international researchers, manufacturers and operators from more than 30 nations and features over 195 plenary and technical presentations.

The co-located events will become the largest ever gathering on rail in the Southern Hemisphere, with more than 300 speakers and 5,000 attendees across the two conferences and exhibition. It will include a live train simulator and will be the last major exhibition hosted at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre before the venue closes for renovations.

‘Driving the costs out of Rail’ is the theme of AusRAIL PLUS, where more than 100 rail industry experts will speak on how to conquer this challenge.  AusRAIL is Australasia’s premier rail conference and exhibition and will include presentations by government leaders, and local and international rail industry executives, engineers, project managers and academics.

“Australia has the sixth largest rail network in the world - moving one billion tonnes of freight and undertaking 780 million customer journeys every year.  The full potential of our railway network can only be realised when we tackle the challenge of driving the costs out of rail,” said Bryan Nye, CEO, Australasian Railway Association which is the lead Association hosting the event in conjunction with Informa Australia.
