Informa powers Windows 8

Last Friday, with a $2 billion global advertising campaign, Microsoft launched their latest operating system, Windows 8. Microsoft sold over 670 million licenses of Windows 7 in the three years since its release and is expecting sales of Windows 8 to nearly double this in the same period. But did you know that Informa has been secretly working with Microsoft over the past 9 months to develop the Finance Live tile feature which will be available in every copy of Windows 8 on desktops, laptops, tablets and, inevitably, mobile phones.

Informa Research Services, based in Calabasas, California, have been secretly working with Microsoft engineers for the past 9 months to get their financial data into the pre-release builds Windows 8.  To give you some idea of the task, there were just over 16 million installations of the pre-release build of Windows 8.!

It’s not often that an Informa product or service is part of such a high profile event but with Windows 8 it’s likely that something we produce will find its way into every business, home and aspect of our daily lives over the next few years.
