Next Generation Optical Networking Awards - winners announced
Informa’s IIR Telecoms & Technology is proud to announce the winners of the 2nd Next Generation Optical Networking Awards.
The winners were presented with their awards during an evening reception, hosted by the Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority, as part of the 15th Annual WDM & Next Generation Optical Networking, at the Grimaldi Forum, Monaco. The awards celebrate and recognise innovation and the achievements made by solution providers and service providers in the optical networking industry.
The categories and winners were as follows:
Best Optical Product – 100G
Cisco: 100Gbps CPAK Coherent DWDM Line Card
The judges said: “Cisco’s CPAK significantly lowers the space, power and cost required to interconnect 100G signals as compared to the CFP-2, enabling operators to much more cost-effectively connect 100G router ports to the network, and enabling router vendors to utilise (connect to) the new 400G port cards they will be introducing”
ZTE: ZXWM M920/ZXONE 8000
The judges said: “ZTE 100G DWDM/OTN Solutions ZXONE 8000 and ZXWM M920 fully meet the operators’ increasing bandwidth requirement”
Best Optical Equipment Product – Beyond 100G
Alcatel-Lucent: 1830 PSS
The judges said: “Alcatel-Lucent currently offers the PSE-equipped 1830 PSS, which has demonstrated, in a customer win, 400G transport using 16QAM, and has demonstrated via two field trials, close packing of wavelengths with Nyquist filtering (for spacing of 37.5 GHz)”
Best Optical Component Product – Beyond 100G
Infinera: 500G PIC
The judges said: “The InP technology based PICs Infinera delivers is far and away the most innovative component available today. In a land of me-too products this company has dared to build something different”
Best Optical OTN Product
Huawei: OptiX OSN 9800/8800/6800/3800/1800
The judges said: “Huawei is the originator of OTN and is the market leader. It has products from access to backbone”
Best Optical ROADM Product
Transmode: TM-Series
The judges said: “Transmode’s ROADM-based Flexible Optical Networking solution is ideal for the requirements of network operators highlighted by their high level of ROADM networks in both simple and complex mesh based networks demonstrating an excellent flexible and scalable solution”
Best Optical Submarine Product
Ciena: GeoMesh
The judges said: “GeoMesh is a unique and superior Submarine solution”
Best Next Generation Optical Service Provider
TeliaSonera International Carrier
The judges said: “TeliaSonera has been aggressive in deploying 100G networks and 500G super-channel links across the globe, providing themselves flexibility in providing bandwidth end-to-end rapidly and with high SLAs”
