Philip Thomas appointed Chair of the Board of Trustees for Comic Relief
Philip Thomas, Executive Chairman of Informa Festivals, has been appointed as Chair of the Board of Trustees for Comic Relief.
A leading figure in global marketing and advertising, this appointment recognises Philip’s decades-long contribution to creative industries. As Executive Chairman of Informa Festivals, Philip guides a portfolio of Informa’s major experience-led brands, including Cannes Lions, Money20/20, Black Hat, Game Developers Conference, and the Tech Week businesses. He is also the current Chairman of Cannes Lions, which he led as Chief Executive between 2006 and 2016.
Commenting on the appointment, Philip said: “I'm honoured to take on the role of Chair at Comic Relief, which has harnessed the power of creativity and generosity to drive real change for decades.”
Comic Relief is a major UK charity which aims to fight global poverty. It is best known for its Red Nose Day campaign, and since its inception in 1985 has raised over £1.6 billion for causes in the UK and around the world.
Philip also sits on the BBC Future of AI in Media advisory board and is a current trustee and former Chair of Media Trust. He has also served as a trustee of Malaria No More and on the World Economic Forum Council on the Future of Media.
